Senkyou is a land of magic and artiface. Artifacts from another Age of
Magic become the very foundation of civilization. The poeple of Senkyou
rely on these artifacts the same way people on Earth do. However, a danger
Senkyou has that we don't are powerful magical beasts, animals warped
beyond recognition by wild magic. Though not all of these beasts are
berserk and violent, most are. Occasionally a pet or stray in a city can
suddenly mutate into one of these creatures as well. Gunjin troops keep
the peace inside the city and constantly patrol the streets to stop the
rampaging beasts that sometimes mutate from within. The only items that
keep the creatures outside the cities at bay are artifact weapons and
barriers, though even these weaken over time and replacements must be
found. That is where the Relic Hunters come in, they journey into the
ruins found in most large cities to find replacements for breaking
equipment and to find new types of artifacts as well.
Though the Gunjin are vigilante in they're efforts, they cannot hope to
remove all criminal elements and threats. The gray area between the lawful
and criminal worlds are the Genkin. They will work for anyone and do
anything for a price. Some, however, become fanatical vigilantes and so
all Genkin are illegal in someway (unless they are legal bounty hunters).
Senkyou is a multi-genre role playing chat. Its multi-genre because it has
elements of several genres, but the dominant style and genre of Senkyou is
fantasy and magic, all others take a close second. Senkyou has a few elements of
sci-fi (the artifacts can mimic anything in the modern world even
technology beyond modern tech). Other genres can become part of
Senkyou but are not as powerfully obvious as these first two.
Now the different culture types, classes as some refer to them as, are not
a set thing. One doesn't have to be one or the other, these are mearly
major jobs and examples that would put a character inthe middle of the
action without having to 'fall into it' or abuse the 'Roads Theory' too
much. (The Roads Theory basically says that, in an rpg, all paths
characters take lead them to the middle of the action by design or
accident).
In Senkyou, we use mIRC which is fast and can be used by just about any
computer. (http://www.mirc.com) During
role playing we try to separate ooc comments with '>>', and actions
are typed with :: to start and end an action. Simple enough right? Well
then comes things like plots or free-for-all charactization, in which we
just do whatever the character (not the player, which can be very
different) would like to do at the time.
