Senkyou Culture

Common Culture
During these times of constant conflict people that are native to Senkyou have become a little more rough and well traveled. Even the average scholar is not only experienced in magic but carries a weapon with them even in the cities.
The most common job for an untutored urban young adult, no matter their gender, is either a Gunjin soldier or a Relic Hunter rookie. This is because military defense and artifact archeology are vital to even the most advanced of countries and city states. The constant battles to defend their homes and cites have left the urbanized people tougher, better organized, and more tolerant and trusting of each other. However, most have also become more gruff and battle worn as well as more suspicious of outsiders.
Rural farmers are a rare breed anymore. Most any left have reverted to a feudal system of farming, they pay 'protection' taxes to Warlords, tribes, or Beast Mages while constantly living on fear of those they pay turning on them, and yet they have no way of safely trekking to a city or safer location. The hard work that normally comes with farming coupled with the constant stray raiders has made the urban farmer into a mound of brutal strength and fury. They are also slow to anger but when angered they can be like Berserkers. Many tribes and Warlord factions originate from farmers that have bound together.
The culture of the present Senkyou is rough, and it is not uncommon to see duels, bar fights, all out wars, fueds, quests for revenge, and friendly sparring. This has not dulled intellect, however, in this world the crafty and wise survive while the uninformed and dull witted find a horrible fate.

Relic Hunters
Those brave enough to venture out from the safety of Kanri and within its most dangerous unexplored ruins and caverns are called 'Relic Hunters'. They form the basis of the entire civilization and every one of them is precious, despite their large numbers. They are separated into guilds that are very organized and scientific in their work, even so they are know as fierce warriors to combat the dangers that come with their jobs. Unfortunately, most are reckless young adventurers that quickly meet their doom.
A common tradition among Relic Hunters is to play pranks on each other and rookies most of all. It is also common to see the elite and seasoned trick the rookies into walking into dangerous areas to 'check' for traps.
Most Relic Hunters use artifacts that are able to detect the energy and metal of other artifacts as well as weaponry and shields of sorts. This is because there are some 'Guardian' and 'Golem' artifacts that protect some areas of the Ruins. Monsters

Gunjin
The heroic 'Gunjin' protect the cities from everything from the street thief to the most dangerous of foes. They are the protectors of Kanri and other minor cities allied with Kanri. They are everything from masters of the Blade to sorcerer Magi to Artifact technicians. They are the most organized, best equipped, and best trained in the magical frontier. However, they are normally arrogant and less skilled than many well traveled warriors.
Most Gunjin soldiers create a code of honor to follow, and some commanders even enforce their code of honor on troops under their command.  Gunjin soldiers tend to use any artifacts that can be used for war and combat. Projectile weapons called guns are commonly used (though considerably less powerful than their 'real world cousins').

Genkin
The 'Genkin' are either swords-for-hire or good intentioned 'rebels with a cause'. These add to the chaos that comes with the lifestyle in Senkyou. Though usually a problem for the Gunjin, they can be equally helpful to the people of Kanri, as long as they are on the right side. They are the best traveled and best skilled, but they hardly ever have the best equipment.
Genkin sometimes have an 'honor among thieves' system. They sometimes form guilds of assassins for hire or mercenary groups. The Gunjin originally was a Genkin guild of lawful mercenaries before they became the common policing and military force of Senkyou.   Genkin don't normally use artifact weapons, they tend to prefer magically enchanted weapons to old relics. Some artifacts, such as the so called 'stealth devices', are used by the elite Genkin assassins. Though these devices come with a price few are willing to pay.

Ana'Kisuto
'Ana'Kisuto', the very bane of civilization itself. This cultist group is in reality made up of many unconnected factions. They will try anything to accomplish their goal of total and eternal anarchy, even if it means working together, destroying vital artifacts and relics, and even commit mass murder. They are a force to be feared, despite their chaotic nature.
The Ana'Kisuto have no common traditions and very few even allow traditions to form with their ranks.

Warlords/Tribes
The tribes of the uncultivated lands form war parties and sometimes even 'Warlords'. They will raid cities and towns and take everything and everyone of value. They are large in numbers but lack training and discipline. On the other hand they are excellent shaman mages and are good at hunting and stealth. The leaders, aka Warlords, are the best among them and normally are either well skilled or well muscled, sometimes they are even High Shamans.
Each tribe is different yet they seem to all have either an agricultural basis or a nomad basis. Almost all, however, have shaman and pray to some sort of nature spirit. Unfortunately, few are peaceful and most raid anything they come across    Warlords and Tribes tend to use anything they get their hands on. Artifacts are prized amoung these people and are seen as signs of being top ranking and rich members of the tribe.
